It is now three weeks after I started to eat more (healthy) fats and less carbs. Check out my previous post to get more info. I have to say, it is not always easy since carbs are literally everywhere. I attended some social events and believe me, it is hard to eat less carbs, sometimes even basically impossible to avoid carbs. I realised that a real ‘die hard’ keto diet would absolutely not work for me. I love eating carbs too much. Low carb is however more realistic and I succeeded to not eat bread for three weeks and to eat a lower amount of pasta, rice or other grains. I have to say, I haven’t felt bad in my gut the whole time. Also, I didn’t feel bloated at all. I ate healthy overall so that might have an impact as well. Although I feel good, this diet is not one I can continue day in day out. As I said before, I love eating carbs too much. I am however personally convinced that cutting carbs and eating more healthy fats and protein is beneficial for my body. But I also believe that there is no abosule thruth in this. I believe every one should find out what suits best for their body.
Underneath you’ll find a list of the things I ate most the last weeks (and which contain healthy fats and protein) :
- Chicken and beef
- A lot of all kinds of veggies
- All kinds of fruits
- Oats (oats aren’t a type of wheat, barley or rye grain, the three groups of whole grains that naturally contain the protein gluten. Oats actually have a protein called avenins)*
- Plant based milk
- Plant based Yoghurt
- Different kinds of nuts
- All kinds of cheese
- Oh and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee 🙂
I have to say, I am proud of the things I ate the last weeks and I feel very good! However, it is sunday and I am in a baking mood. But what to bake when you don’t want to use added refined sugars or flour… ?! Well, I went for this Apple Oatmeal bread. If you are curious, you can check out the recipe in my next post.
